Personal Benefits Of Selfless Services
The beenfits of charity to those who engage in it include: If you want to enter the Heavenly Kingdom, you should consistently grow in spirit by:
Selflessness such as Pastor T B Joshua does, even on the television is both necessary and compulsory. What Pastor T B Joshua does on the television is very good. It is true that such acts have to be in secret. But the world has so degenerated to low level of love and mercy that it has become necessary to demonstrate publicly that such acts of love, kindness and mercy are not only necessary, but also compulsory for everyone who wants to enter the kingdom. Engage yourself in selfless services, in helping people, in running errands and by attending to people’s needs. By so doing you achieve the following:
  1. You set yourself free from the consequences (karma) of your sins in your previous and present lives. The person who is selfless is a better devotee than the person who spends his time praying for forgiveness. In the Parable of the Shrewd Servant, the guilty servant did not pray for forgiveness. All that he did to gain and retain his master's acceptance was to have mercy on his fellow servants.

  2. You discover, recover and improve your talents. Today, many youths complain that they do not know their talents. The problem is not that they do not know their talents. The real problem is that they do not run errands again, and they do not render selfless service to people. Therefore, their talents fold up, instead of flowering (blossoming). Jesus made this fact clear in the 'Parable of the Talents' –

24 "Then he who had received the one talent came and said, 'Lord, I knew you to be a hard man (you did not give me many talents like you gave to others), reaping where you have not sown (it is not possible to get much from a little), and gathering where you have not scattered seed (I refused to be used by you or for other people's benefit). 25 And I was afraid (therefore, I was lazy), and went and hid your talent in the ground (I was avoiding opportunities to help or serve others). Look, there you have what is yours (I have no talent because this one you gave me does not belong to me, but to you).'
26 "But his lord answered and said to him, 'You wicked and lazy servant (very selfish and lazy, indeed), you knew that I reap where I have not sown, and gather where I have not scattered seed. 27 So you ought to have deposited my money with the bankers (you suppose to have used the little you have to gain over much), and at my coming I would have received back my own with interest. 28 So take the talent from him, and give it to him who has ten talents. (On several occasions, you have heard ministers of God preach this sermon. The one thing missing is that they failed to tell you that you are the one servant who refused to use his precious talent, because you are always avoiding opportunities to help and serve people.)
29'For to everyone who has (who uses what he has, more will be given; he gains more talents), and he will have abundance (and gains much wealth); but from him who does not have (who does not use what he has), even what he has will be taken away (the talents fold up as if he has none). 30 And cast the unprofitable servant into the outer darkness. There will be weeping and gnashing of teeth (because you did not use your talents to set benefit people, you must suffer the karma of your misdeeds).'
    Matthew 25:24-30

  3. You increase your heavenly accounts. It is a pity that children of God do not know that they have heavenly accounts just as they have earthly bank accounts. Worse still, they do not know how to increase their heavenly treasures. You increase your heavenly treasures simply by rendering selfless services to God and mankind.

  4. You overcome the notion of duality, which is like a hindrance in the path of your spiritual progress.

  5. You overcome the world by freeing yourself from the cycle of rebirth, decay, disease and death, called reincarnation.

  6. You develop and unfold your bright, glorious and mighty spirit self.

  7. You attain God: see God, know God and become one with God.

  8. Overflowing joyfulness and gladness. You derive great joy in doing works of charity. The work of charity is like a tap that makes the Holy Spirit to pour down abundance of joyfulness and gladness. Recently, l met three girls who were returning from church services. They were giggling with joy and excitement. They were even behaving like children at play. Guess what the y were doing then? They were pushing the wheel chair of a handicapped person.

  9. Discovery and development of your natural gift, called talents, as well as the actualization of God’s providence for you. Moses was led to his wife and in-laws just by act of kindness. Rebecca became a woman called blessed by all generations because of the work of charity she did by attending to Abraham’s servant. Joseph was led to Pharaoh and made a ruler in Egypt because of the dreams he interpreted freely while in the prison.

  10. Your spiritual growth is speeded up. Charity, welfare services or selflessness, is the primary engagement God demands from humanity. Those who render such services willingly and joyfully grow very fast in spirit. They overcome the chains of the world which bind people to reincarnate. By reincarnation, people are bound to the cycle of rebirth, disease, decay and death.

  11. Charity increases your heavenly Account. Whatever good work you do on earth is translated into heavenly treasures and pleasures for you. That is why Jesus said that people should use the perishable wealth of the world to get the imperishable wealth of the heavenly kingdom. Generally, everybody has an earthly bank account. To increase your earthly bank account, you add money to your savings from time to time. The only way to increase your heavenly bank account is by rendering help to others, by attending to the needs, by engaging in work of charity.

  12. Charity is the easiest, shortest and quickest way to heaven. Jesus said it clearly in the book of Matthew.

31 "When the Son of Man comes in His glory, and all the holy angels with Him, then He will sit on the throne of His glory. 32 All the nations will be gathered before Him, and He will separate them one from another, as a shepherd divides his sheep from the goats. 33 And He will set the sheep on His right hand, but the goats on the left. 34 Then the King will say to those on His right hand, 'Come, you blessed of My Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world: 35 for I was hungry and you gave Me food; I was thirsty and you gave Me drink; I was a stranger and you took Me in; 36 I was naked and you clothed Me; I was sick and you visited Me; I was in prison and you came to Me.' Matthew 25:31-36

  13. Charity counts you among the righteous ones. Your everyday services, conduct and routine are not righteous enough. By helping others, you connect to and fill yourself with the Holy Spirit, which is the spirit of righteousness.

  14. Charity enhances your mansion in heaven. Jesus said that in the Father’s kingdom are many mansions. What majority failed to understand is that everybody has his own mansion. Both salvation and rewards await those who shall attain heaven. Salvation is a free gift to all, but reward is according to merit. In the heavenly kingdom, some have one-room mansion. Others have storey mansion. Yet, there are some others whose mansions are empires. Enhance your mansion by doing charity more and more. In fact, do not neglect any opportunity you have to do good, even for your enemy.

  15. Charity is a key to good health. Usually, when you help those in need, you observe that your mode changes to liveliness. You have all these good feeling because your spiritual vibration is raised to a higher level. The result is that you receive more life and wellbeing from the Holy Spirit. The lasting effect is good health and God’s protection, in addition to long life. Lively people live better and longer than sluggish persons.

  16. You gain relief by performing charity. You build up confidence, and experience relief from grief, depression and boredom.

  17. You develop better and greater relationship. Your selfless services to others awaken and sustain friendship with them, even here on earth and thereafter in heaven.

  18. Selfless services reduce the ego. Ego, selfishness, is our worst enemy after ignorance. One reason why humanity were sent to the world was for them to rid themselves of ego, to stop thinking of ‘my,’ ‘I,’ ‘my own,’ ‘me,’ and other selfish inclinations. Devil is able to mislead people by feasting on the ignorance of the masses and by prompting selfishness in them. The moment you engage in selfless services, you defeat Satan.
